Understanding Knee Pain

Knee pain doesn’t discriminate by age or gender, and you don’t have to be an athlete to experience this common ailment of the largest joint in the body. The location and severity of the pain depend mostly on what’s causing the pain in the first place. These causes are varied, and can range from overuse, a sudden injury or an underlying medical condition such as osteoarthritis that involves the breaking down of the cartilage in the joint.

Knee pain is usually accompanied by several different symptoms that include swelling, stiffness, redness and an inability to put weight on or straighten the knee out. This limited range of motion can affect the simplest activities, including climbing stairs, bending the knee or just walking. his lack of stability can have a dramatic effect on your day-to-day quality of life, keeping you from doing the things you love.
